Step into Edmond’s Creative World

“I write historical fiction that mimics oral storytelling tradition—not contemporary commercial fiction. The rules are completely different.

I believe ancient tales demand ancient language, not as affectation, but because the way we speak shapes the way we think. My Bronze Age Greeks think in Bronze Age patterns. The archaic register is not decoration; it is the architecture of their minds. And likewise do my Renaissance characters.

I work in the tradition of Mary Renault, Dorothy Dunnett, Umberto Eco—writers who understood that historical fiction is most powerful when language itself creates the time-travel—yet pushing that principle further: not just careful word choice, but syntax, rhythm, and voice that belong to another era.

There is a whole generation of mythological retellings in contemporary prose. I appreciate many of them. Yet I felt something was missing: the perception of genuine antiquity. That is what I offer.

For further inspiration, follow the bards listed below. It is on my bucket list to one day meet them in person.”

AN AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR BORN IN RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL, EDMOND LIVED FOR OVER TWO decades in Ontario, Upland, and Rancho Cucamonga, California. He completed studies in Information Systems and Philosophy at Chaffey College.

Before enrolling in English 101, however, he first had to complete English 90 and 91, proving his proficiency in his newly adopted language. Determined to master it, he immersed himself in the classics—rereading favorites from Homer and Virgil to Shakespeare, Marlowe, Dumas, Wilde, and Austen—until he eventually became a copywriter and editor at his advertising agency.

I may never know whether I weave these tales from my own imagination or recall them from lives long past.

A Note on Style

My novels employ archaic prose registers appropriate to their historical settings of Bronze Age Greece and Renaissance Italy. This stylistic choice is deliberate and integral to the work’s artistic vision. Readers should expect a brief period of adjustment—typically one to two chapters—as they attune to the linguistic rhythms; meanings, however, remain clear through context. The prose rewards engagement without ever obscuring comprehension.

These novels are written for readers who delight in stylistically rich historical fiction in the tradition of Mary Renault, Dorothy Dunnett, Hilary Mantel, and Umberto Eco.

I invite you to step into Bronze Age and Renaissance intrigue, romance, and adventure—if you dare.
