About the Author

“Language is the house of Being.”
—Martin Heidegger, Letter on Humanism (Brief über den Humanismus, 1946).

If birds of a feather flock together, I have spent my days flying solo, still searching for my comrades.

Edmond Thornfield
The story of

Edmond Thornfield

BORN IN RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL, EDMOND SPENT OVER TWO DECADES IN CALIFORNIA, living in Ontario, Upland, and Rancho Cucamonga. He completed studies in Information Systems and Philosophy at Chaffey College.

Before enrolling in English 101, however, he first had to complete English 90 and 91, proving his proficiency in his newly adopted language. Determined to master it, he immersed himself in the classics—rereading favorites from Homer and Virgil to Shakespeare, Marlowe, Dumas, Wilde, and Austen—until he eventually became a copywriter and editor at his advertising agency.

Though he no longer resides in the Inland Empire, he bears it nearest his heart. When autumn arrives, he sighs at the fond memories of the home he once knew.

In 2023, Edmond set out to write the stories he had always searched for but never found—tales of gay protagonists who defy the norms of their age. He has completed two novels: A Tale of Paris & Paris: Echoes of Troy  (soon to be published), in which two lovers fight for survival against the Holy Roman Inquisition, and Asterios and the Labyrinth, a tale of love and vengeance set in Minoan Crete, circa 1450 BCE.

He is also the author of the Gay Classicist Manifesto, a call to fellow writers to join him in restoring LGBTQ+ representation to the literary canon.

Now writing full-time, he enjoys a quiet life further up the coast from his birthplace, drawing inspiration from the visions and whispers of the past. You can engage with him on TikTok and X by searching for @ethornauthor or send him a message through this site’s contact form.
